According to papers published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 1995, the following points concerning the returns on investment (ROI) of EAP are reported.
・The ROI of EAP in the U.S. is, for every dollar invested, a return of $5 to $7.
・In the survey conducted on 50 companies by Marsh & McLennon Company in1994, the absentee rate of employees after introduction of EAP decreased by 21%, on the job accidents by 17%, and an increase in productivity of 14%.
・According to the study published by McDonnell Douglas in 1990 on financial growth, the EAP program had brought about in four years a cost reduction of $5.1 million.
・After a trust bank in the U.S. with 70,000 employees introduced EAP, it was able to slash expenses related to sick leaves by $739,870 in merely one year.
It is reported that Motorola Japan, by introducing EAP, had realized a 40% cut in the average sick leave days (2002).
As proven by these facts, EAP in the direct sense brings about good health and increase in performance in employees. Moreover, as an indirect result, it boosts performance, and it can be expected that cost reduction will be brought about by cuts in areas such as costs related to employee sick leaves.
